Committees and Work Groups
We aim to provide world-class interprofessional practice and education that transforms health and health outcomes for all. Our Committees and Work Groups are essential toward achieving this goal, enabling our strategic direction, facilitating the development of key initiatives and programs, reviewing evaluation and assessment data, and making subsequent recommendations for improvement.
The collective leadership of these teams ensures that we’re inclusive of our campus and community stakeholders and that we deliver on our commitment to advance interprofessional practice and education at Ohio State.
BuckIPE Steering Committee
The Ohio State University Interprofessional Practice and Education Steering Committee includes curricular deans and other campus leaders responsible for and positioned to shepherd successful implementation of interprofessional practice and education across The Ohio State University.
Charge
The IPE Steering Committee advocates, champions, leads, and guides academic structures and practices that support transformational interprofessional practice and education (IPE) at The Ohio State University.
Specifically, IPE Steering Committee members:
- Identify and align interprofessional practice and education needs and priorities.
- Strengthen and build academic structures that support integrating IPE across the university and its clinical and community practice settings.
- Ensure that learners participate fully in meaningful core interprofessional learning experiences at all levels and throughout their education.
- Drive evidence-based decision-making toward efficient and maximally effective IPE.
- Align BuckIPE curriculum requirements with national standards and best practices (IPEC 2023 and HPAC 2019) and with the accreditation requirements of the university’s academic programs.
- Garner and shepherd resources necessary for development and successful implementation of high-quality interprofessional learning experiences, to include enabling community members to collaborate.

IPE Champions
The IPE Champions are appointed by college Deans to represent and advance interprofessional practice and education with their respective faculty, staff, and students at the college or school level.
Charge
The Ohio State University IPE Champions oversee, communicate, implement, and integrate interprofessional practice and education within their respective colleges or schools and across Ohio State University by working in four domains: IPE Exemplar, IPE Leader, IPE Advocate, and IPE Change Agent.
Specifically, Champions:
- Provide collaborative leadership.
- Model inclusive excellence.
- Bring stakeholder perspectives into discussion planning and work together to integrate multiple perspectives into decisions and recommendations to support interprofessional programming, faculty engagement, and collaborative practice.
- Collaborate with IPE Ambassadors to harness our greater IPE community's energy, passion, and support.
- Identify the fundamental forces enabling the advancement of IPE and lead the implementation of strategies to facilitate those changes.
- Solicit, advocate for, and represent the university, college, and program perspective(s) to advance interprofessional collaborative practice and interprofessional education and to promote relationship-centeredness.
- Collaborate with college/unit leadership and faculty to ensure integration and implementation of interprofessional education.

Charge
The IPE Executive Sponsor shapes and enables collaboration across academic programming, clinical practice, community engagement, research, and scholarship by supporting, highlighting, and recommending initiatives and opportunities for interprofessional practice and education.

Interprofessional Practice and Education (IPE) Ambassadors
The IPE Ambassadors (formerly the Interprofessional Education and Practice Collaborative) is a knowledge network and a community of practice that includes campus and community stakeholders who share ideas and resources, advocate for, and provide insights into campus and community interprofessional practice and education needs.
Charge
IPE Ambassadors act as advocates and change-makers to foster and support the growth and evolution of interprofessional collaboration across The Ohio State University and beyond. Membership comprises all Ohio State IPE enthusiasts, including educators, researchers, scholars, practitioners, and learners.
Specifically, Ambassadors:

Promote and engage in knowledge sharing of best practices, innovative initiatives, and community events that foster a culture of teamwork and mutual respect across the university.

Sponsor, plan, and facilitate workshops, seminars, and events that bring the IPE community and others together to discuss and learn about interprofessional practice and education.

Mentor and support one another and the community engaged in and interested in participating in interprofessional practice and education, helping them maximize opportunities and navigate challenges along the way.

Collaborate with other faculty, students, staff, and practitioners to integrate interprofessional learning into the curriculum and across the learning environment. This will enable the community to gain the necessary knowledge and skills to work effectively together in interprofessional teams to improve health, health care, and well-being.

Advocate for the importance of interprofessional practice and education within the university and the broader community, highlighting its benefits and impact on increasing access and improving health, health care, and well-being for everyone.

Participate in evaluation and feedback to support continuous quality improvement of interprofessional practice, education, and learning.

Contribute to the academic body of knowledge through research and scholarship by sharing lessons learned and best practices and translating those into sustainable, impactful, and relevant interprofessional practice and education.
By fulfilling these responsibilities, IPE Ambassadors are vital in creating a more integrated and collaborative learning environment, preparing students to work effectively in diverse, interdisciplinary teams in their future careers, and advancing interprofessional teamwork.

Membership consists of all Ohio State IPE enthusiasts, to include educators, researchers and scholars, practitioners, and learners.
Student Advisory Board
The overarching charge of the IPE Student Advisory Board is to facilitate and promote active and meaningful interprofessional collaboration among students, with the goal of ensuring that all students experience productive and engaged interprofessional collaboration during their time at Ohio State. The board comprises at least one student representative from each college, and each of them shares Ohio State’s commitment to excellence in IPE.
Charge
The IPE Student Advisory Board advises and guides the Office of Interprofessional Practice and Education and its partners to prioritize, advise strategic directions, and communicate student needs and perspectives for IPE programming, focusing on relevance, utility, and effectiveness.
Specifically, Student Advisory Board members:

Solicit and provide student perspectives: Offers insights and feedback on IPE initiatives to ensure they are meaningful and beneficial for students.

These responsibilities help ensure that IPE programs are robust, inclusive, and aligned with the needs of students from various health professions.
