Mission & Vision

A group of seven individuals stands behind a decorative railing with cut-out patterns, possibly on a balcony or an indoor overlook. The faces of the individuals are pixelated for privacy. The group appears diverse in terms of clothing style, with some wearing casual attire and others in more formal or branded apparel. The background suggests a public or communal space

Mission

To exemplify world class interprofessional practice and education that improves health outcomes and advances health equity.

Vision

A world where learners, caregivers, practitioners, and citizens collaborate more effectively, enhancing health and elevating the community experience for all.

Background

In 2017, the curricular deans of the Health Sciences Colleges led an initiative to develop an innovative interprofessional curricular vision for IPE at Ohio State. The objective was to innovate the future of team-based IPE for the health professions—and to prepare the current and emerging workforce for today and the future.

In July of 2020, the Health Sciences Administration established the Office of Interprofessional Practice and Education, hiring the Associate Vice Chancellor for IPE to:

  • Mobilize and centralize IPE efforts toward a common goal
  • Build a sustainable culture and structure to support IPE
  • Advance and develop existing initiatives to implement BuckIPE

In addition, the Office seeks to embolden a deep partnership between the University and its Wexner Medical Center to expand interprofessional team-based practice opportunities for learners.
