Year 1 BuckIPE Learners Team Up to Complete a Breakout Experience
Year 1 BuckIPE Foundations students completed the Fundamentals of Teamwork module March 21.
1,216 students and 36 facilitators participated in the Fundamentals of Teamwork module over the past two weeks. Students worked together to solve puzzles presented in an Escape Room fashion. This module introduced learners to Interprofessional Collaboration and was the students' first interaction with the evidence-based drivers of teamwork used in BuckIPE. The learning experience emphasized three drivers of effective teams—coordination, cooperation, and coaching. The clues featured a fictional family in the Hilltop neighborhood in Columbus, and the teams identified the family's health and social needs as they progressed through the puzzles. Students debriefed as a team and reflected on their behaviors and performance of fundamental interprofessional teamwork skills at the end of the experience.
