We work with partners across the University to develop world-class interprofessional courses and activities that prepare learners for the future of work and transform health and health outcomes for all.
Inclusive Teaching Workshops: This three-part series is for all faculty and educators within the College of Medicine and beyond who want to improve their teaching, courses, and work towards earning the Inclusive Teaching Endorsement from the Drake Institute, with a focus on anti-bias, and serves as a follow-up to the Anti-Bias Curricular Review presentation from Dr. Amy Caruso-Brown on February 28th. Please contact Dr. Claire Bollinger with any questions.
These workshops will allow participants to put into action what they learn or have learned about the Upstate Bias Checklist. Each of these workshops will also be able to be counted toward a singular event at 1.5 hours of credit toward earning the Inclusive Teaching Endorsement through the institute. For those interested in attending the workshops who have not heard Dr. Caruso-Brown’s talk, the recording is available, and the 1-hour video can count towards the Inclusive Teaching endorsement, as well.
May 19th, 12:30pm – 2:00pm in 251 Atwell Hall: Let’s Get to Work on the Anti-Bias Checklist. For this inclusive teaching workshop, participants will bring 1-2 curricular items to evaluate. Facilitated by faculty and instructional designers in the COM, participants will work in small faculty groups. Participants will be able to:
Recognize best practices to support inclusive teaching.
Examine curricular items that can be reviewed by the Upstate Bias Checklist.
Interpret the results of the Upstate Bias Checklist.
Identify the components of the teaching materials that will require revision.
