Interprofessional collaboration is a cornerstone of modern healthcare; it aims to enhance patient experience, improve healthcare outcomes, and enhance provider well-being. However, achieving truly holistic care requires moving beyond traditional practitioner pairings and embracing multiple disciplines, some of which may not always be apparent.

Our January Community of Practice titled "Not the Usual Suspects: Partners for Holistic Care in Interprofessional Education and Practice," features:

  • Rebecca Henderson, BSDH, MS | The Ohio State University College of Dentistry
  • Mawada Osman, OD, MS, FAAO | The Ohio State University College of Optometry
  • Andrew Wapner, DO, MPH | The Ohio State University College of Public Health

Comprehensive healthcare often requires partnering with disciplines that practitioners may not have previously considered. Henderson will lead this session to challenge practitioners to think creatively about their collaborative networks, and how to use them accordingly. By exploring these unconventional partners, participants can form innovative teams that bridge existing gaps in care. The ultimate goal is to broaden perspectives on interprofessional collaboration and maximize the collective impact of it.
