The Health Equity Scholars Program was created in the autumn of 2021 to align with the College of Nursing strategic plan and Office of Diversity and Inclusion efforts. It was a collaboration of Dr. Karen Rose, the College of Nursing incoming Dean; Dr. Andrea Pfeifle, Vice Chancellor of the Office of Interprofessional Practice and Education; and Dr. Angela Aston, assistant clinical professor, and chief diversity officer. The program has had 21 students across multiple disciplines who engage in projects to address health equity in the community. Faculty mentors for the program also come from various fields, including some outside health sciences. Partners to projects under the program have included CareSource and the Columbus Free Clinic. Dr. Aston expresses her pride in the program and writes, " all disciplines have a role in this work, and we are very proud of our scholars and their faculty mentors for their dedication and engagement to improve the community in which we live and serve." You can read more about the program from Dr. Aston HERE.
